Today, we picked another 5 sectors: OpenSource, Industrial Manufacturing, Defencetech, Foundational models for biological systems, and Stablecoin finance. Here are the fastest growing (based on YoY headcount, Companies >100 employees) companies across each of these sectors:
Washington based cybersecurity company Chainguard, which is on a mission to be ‘the safe source for open source’, sits on the top of the charts with an impressive 69% YoY growth.
In YC Partner Jared Friedman’s words, “Bringing manufacturing back to America is one of the biggest areas of bipartisan agreement, and the CHIPS act which was passed in 2022 proves that the US government will put serious money behind this objective.”
With an impressive 44% YoY growth, 6K is a chemical manufacturing company that specializes in manufacturing additives and advanced materials for battery storage.
SpaceX showed the world that a private space company could be vastly more effective than the publicly-funded United Launch Alliance.
A new age company, Anduril (65% YoY growth) that sells to the Department of Defence (DoD), is showing that the same is true for new defense technology.
Foundational models for biological systems are built around large sets of data and have the potential to unlock new scientific approaches to diseases.
Science, an early stage company developing technologies for a range of serious unmet medical needs, recorded a whopping 74% YoY growth.
A surprising addition to the RFS, crypto aficionados were pleased by the inclusion of Stablecoin finance as one of the sectors for more active investments by YC.
With a 64% YoY growth, Ava Labs features the native euro stablecoin, ‘AvaCloud’ on its layer-1 smart contract platform Avalanche.

I am trying to make sense of the chart about foundation models in biotech, and honestly, can't. Just try finding info aobut Science, Dot compliance, Revvity, and others... they just don't build foundation models for bio. Or am I missing something? From the list, probably only Asimov, may be XtalPi and Attos, but not even sure about these two... Where did you get this data from?
